The Local Boy Who Made Good
"As a child, Karl Rove played with friends in the irrigation ditches [Blogger's note: he was playing gutter politics from an early age] east of Sparks, was elected president of the Dilworth Middle School student body and ate Sunday breakfast with his family at John Ascuaga's Nugget after church.
"Today Rove, 52, is President Bush's senior adviser, credited with helping get Bush elected governor of Texas and into the White House.
"In a brief telephone interview, Rove recalled that he had a happy childhood in Sparks.
"The Roves' East Gault Way home was then at the eastern edge of Sparks. There were fields for him to play in and room to shoot his BB guns.
"'We used to play throughout all the little irrigation ditches,' Rove said. Army was a favorite game.
"That Karl Rove turned out successful was no surprise to those who knew him when he lived on Gault Way from 1961 through 1966 with parents Louis and Reba, brothers Eric and Olaf and sisters Reba and Alma. The surprise is that Rove himself is not president..."
What makes anybody think Rove ISN'T president?
The rest of the story is here.
