Very Funny

piece from MWO about Sally Quinn's attempt to peddle a television pilot about a certain Georgetown hostess. According to the link, her proposal has been rejected all over Hollywood because they think the idea is boring and stupid. Sort of like the peddler herself.

I can remember many, many years ago (circa 1972-73), when in a desperate attempt to go against NBC's Today Show, CBS hired Sally Quinn for its morning news broadcast to work with Hughes Rudd. It was an infamous disaster. Quinn, who had a reputation as a halfway decent writer (and a reputation as the live-in girlfriend of WP boss Ben Bradlee), bumbled and stumbled her way around. She looked disheveled half of the time, as if waking up at 3 a.m. didn't agree with her. Rudd reputedly didn't like her. She also looked much older then than she does now. Finally, after a few months or a year or so after her debut, Quinn got the ax. She wrote a very funny book about the experience, We're Going to Make You a Star.

She should forget trying to influence television once again.
