It Looks Like Bush

is blowing it with the top guns of the N.R.A. by shooting his wad in support of a ban on semiautomatic assault weapons.

I get so tired of these con men wrapping themselves around the second amendment which doesn't claim what they say it claims. Semiautomatic weapons have nothing to do with target shooting (unless your target is killing other people), gun collecting, or hunting non-human animals. But the N.R.A. represents the ammo and gun manufacturers, and they are always worried they are going to lose their profitable industry by any kind of gun regulation, no matter how reasonable.

As for hunting, it's a rich man's game, and it is on the decline (except in some areas of the redneck West). It will continue to be on the decline, and perhaps in a hundred years or so it will cease to exist. The N.R.A. is a holdout from an era long gone by.

In any case, they aren't going to withdraw support for Bush, the frog and kildeer killer.
