of words in that headline, given S.'s sordid history.
It sounds like a little bit of blackmail. The religious right, which seems to control the Republican Party in California (and just about everywhere else) is trying to throw its weight around to the California legislators until S. can explain himself.
It's a bit too late for S. to "repent," I think.
