I Don't Know

if I really agree with Tomasky's take that the Republicans are really a bunch of incompetents because they can't seem to do a damned thing right.

I don't think it is incompetence as it is pure ruthlessness and don't-give-a-shitism. Everything they do they do for a reason. It isn't because they are inept. They are deliberately ruining the country and trying to turn it into a feudal society where there is only a handful of rich and a slew of poor. The rich are there to take whatever they can get, when they can get it.

The Republicans aren't the country-club Reaganites of yore. They are extremists, even fascists, who are bent on turning the country into a banana republic. They will do anything and everything to get power, and they will crush anybody who stands in their way.

Tomasky is letting these fascists off the hook too easily.
