I Am Back

after waiting in line for over two hours and waiting almost two hours more after the gates opened for the show to begin. What is funny is that the band was up at Stateline, Nevada, just the other day, just a skip and a hop from where I live, but since I was gone for so much of the summer I didn't know that.

But it didn't matter, in the end. The outdoor pavilion is much better than some casino showroom, anyway. Furthermore, I wouldn't have cared for the commute from Lake Tahoe back to Reno in the middle of the night. It's a 100-mile round trip.

In any case, Starr is a brave man, a truly brave man, to share the stage with the likes of Sheila E. Not in a million years could he be that good on the drums. And no doubt he knows it, because he let her have plenty of time to showcase her considerable talents. As well as letting the others take center stage.

It was a great show, a kickass act, and I hope Starr (as well as McCartney) lives another 50 years.

Edit: Official tour site is here, which includes a discussion board. This year's tour is about done.

Edit 2: I discovered Starr and his band played Reno once, back in 1999, at the Silver Legacy. Just where the hell I was during that time I don't know. I might have been in Oregon.
