but while the death penalty is ridiculous on its face, expanding it to include pregnant women is the height of absurdity.

How is this going to deter domestic violence, when such violence is typically not premeditated?

Moreover, why are pregnant women more valued than two individuals being killed, yet the death penalty isn't often used in states like Oregon for any murders?

Well, I think we know the answer, and it's much the same argument as those who oppose abortion make.
