While it is certainly a good thing that animals in slaughterhouse conditions be treated humanely, we should never lose sight of the fact PETA is NOT an animal welfare organization or a humane society. It is a so-called "animal rights" group that has beliefs based upon the crackpot philosophy of Peter Singer (whether or not Singer actually agrees with everything PETA does). Protests to force companies to treat animals humanely is just a means to an end towards PETA's ultimate goal, and that's to force everybody into their stupid belief system and chuck the use of animals for anything. This includes giving up meat and dairy products to embrace vegetarianism (which few people do and who in their right mind could STAND such a crappy diet), and despite some denials by some PETA followers, also includes having animals for pets.

PETA makes me sick. It is a disgrace and puts ALL animal welfare organizations in a negative light with its stupid stunts. In fact, I don't believe its members actually give a shit about animals. They are like a cult, like the fundies, in trying to shove their beliefs down everybody's throats.
