As Frank Rich notes,
now that the public has declared the Iraq War as over and a failure, the real battle in Congress is now over the exit strategy, yet where does this leave the country in terms of the real threat of terraism?
Joe Klein believes withdrawal could be a risky strategy and actually worsen the situation in the Middle East, a situation that we largely created in the first place.
Supposedly we are in Iraq to combat terraism, but we've created a breeding ground for further terraism and have depleted our resources in combatting the real threat.
As I've said before, saying we need to withdraw and actually doing it are two different things. And since we are dealing with a bunch of ideologues in the administration who believe we need to have a presence in the Middle East in order to control the oil reserves, all bets are off when or if we get completely out of there.
