Presidential Notes.
2008 could well be the first billion-dollar presidential campaign.
So much for the Watergate reforms. Elections are becoming more corrupt than ever.
_____
At least seven of the Democratic candidates for president, including Senator Hillary Clinton, will be at the first debate in Carson City.
Obama and Edwards have yet to commit to the February 21 event.
I plan to be there in person, if possible.
_____
A couple of bloggers working on the Edwards campaign were under fire for postings they wrote that were allegedly anti-Catholic.
Naturally a lot of the nutroots are upset over this, but if people are going to work on a campaign in an official, as opposed to a volunteer, capacity, they need to use at least a little bit of goddamned tact.
When it comes to religion, it goes double.
Because of my rather pointed remarks about Bush being a dictator, etc., I wouldn't expect to be hired by any campaign in an official capacity. I don't think I have actually used anti-religious language on this blog, but I am critical of elements of the far right, quasi-fascist element of "evangelical" Protestantism for that movement's efforts to cram its beliefs down everybody else's throats.
But that's legitimate criticism. I haven't ever attacked the pope, or made any anti-semitic remarks, or poked fun at religious dogma.
And honestly, does it really matter what the Daily Kos polls say about Edwards? That site has yet to be an accurate representation of the voting public.
_____
Along those lines, somebody should tell Josh and Chris that nobody gives a shit what they think.
Those idiot bloggers shouldn't have been hired in the first place. Hire politicos instead.
_____
Religion will no doubt be a big factor with one candidate's campaign.
_____
McCain is slipping already while Giuliani is inexplicably gaining ground.
The Republican race is more interesting because the outcome cannot be predicted at all.
Not that the Democratic race is predictable, but the Republican race is anybody's to win--or lose.
