Presidential Notes.

If I had gone to Costco here in Reno, I could have shaken hands with old Rudy:

Rudy Giuliani stopped into a local Costco store during his visit to Reno on Saturday, surprising shoppers who never thought they'd see a potential presidential candidate in such an up-close and laid-back setting.

Giuliani, the Republican mayor of New York City during the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, walked though the isles, talked with shoppers, paused for pictures with babies and children and signed autographs for their parents.

His checkout cart included about three pairs of dark socks, the book "Nixon and Mao" by Margaret MacMillan and a few DVDs, including the 1942 classic, "Yankee Doodle Dandy," starring James Cagney.

Giuliani also shopped for energy bars. The store didn't have his favorite brand, so he passed.

Speaking of Rudy, he and Hillary Clinton are ahead in the latest Nevada poll.
