I am becoming more and more convinced Bill Gates and his old lady are just purely evil, and they are aligning themselves with people and outfits out to destroy public education.

Just yesterday there was news that the Senate and the House were ready to put the reauthorization of NCLB on the FAST TRACK. They hope to have the "reauthorization package" out by June, and to have completed reauthorization BY THE END OF SUMMER!

Today we hear that the Aspen Commission (funded, btw, by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, the Joyce Foundation, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, Carnegie Corporation of New York, and the Spencer Foundation) has put its recommendations into legislative language and they have done themselves proud.

The first recommendation, OBVIOUSLY THE ONE MOST ON THEIR MINDS, is changing the requirements for teachers from simply being Highly Qualified to being HIGHLY QUALIFIED AND EFFECTIVE!

What does that mean to them? How do they plan to determine whether a teacher is an HQET? Well, they plan to measure "learning gains." And how do they plan to measure "learning gains?" Well, of course, they will use the scores from a SINGLE ANNUAL STANDARDIZED TEST THAT WAS NEVER DESIGNED TO MEASURE LEARNING GAINS!!!!

Where are the goddamned Democrats in this? Are they just going to roll over and allow that bullshit law to be reauthorized?
