As the World Turns.

Nobody truly knows yet what were the circumstances surrounding Roosevelt Sims' being removed from the Amtrak train near Williams, Arizona, and then escaping from police into the wild.

He was damned lucky he lived:

Family members in Arizona declined to answer questions about Sims' time in the woods. They did not say how he lost his clothes and shoes. They also did not explain why records show a call may have been made with his cell phone from a Phoenix suburb, nearly 180 miles away.

Roosevelt Sims was found in the 800,000-acre Kaibab National Forest, which at an elevation of 8,000 feet experienced dry, sunny weather with highs in the mid-80s and lows in the mid-40s while Sims was missing. Family members said Roosevelt Sims is an avid deer hunter who spends a lot of time outdoors.

Arizona physicians told family members he was in good condition and will probably be released to return home in several days.
