but unfortunately I did not make it to the Sparks Hometowne Christmas Parade. It is bone-chilling cold outside, thanks to a wind.
For class we talked about suicide and young people. My instructor showed a VHS copy of the 1992 documentary Dream Deceivers, which depicted the infamous Judas Priest subliminal message trial held in Reno 17 years ago.
I remember that case well, where two young men, 20-year-old James Vance and 19-year-old Ray Belknap, engaged in a suicide pact, but only Vance survived, but with his face completely disfigured. He died three years later, from drug and surgery-related complications. The parents sued the band, claiming subliminal messages caused the boys to attempt suicide, despite the fact the boys had a host of substance abuse and emotional issues. The trial against the band was simply absurd; there was no way it would survive in court. It didn't.
More info is here.
I'd like to see this film be on DVD. It's not available, to my knowledge.
