Racehorse Teuflesberg is doing great after having surgery to repair fractured sesamoids and will be ready for stud duty shortly:
Teuflesberg suffered career-ending injuries in both sesamoids in his left foreleg in the Oct. 6 Phoenix Stakes (gr. III) at Keeneland. He underwent surgery at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital near Lexington and was outfitted with a cast. The cast was removed around Nov. 1, and he was outfitted with another, which was taken off about a week ago. He is undergoing stall rest at Victory Haven Training Center under the care of his trainer, Jamie Sanders, and her fiancé, Donnie Kelly. The two own Teuflesberg with Gary Logsdon and Jeff Singer.
"He should be ready for hand walking in about a week or two," Sanders said about the colt who cost $9,000 as a yearling. "He's really doing well. Looking at him, it's hard to believe he went through this ordeal. He should be ready for test breeding in January."
