Edwards is doing the right thing by chipping away at Hillary Clinton. After all, it is CLINTON who is the frontrunner nationally, not Obama. It is Clinton who has virtually the entire national and state Democratic Party organization regulars as well as her ex-president husband behind her. It is Clinton who has a large percentage of the superdelegates already in her corner. It is Clinton who is by far the better debater than Obama. All of these factors make it very, very difficult for Edwards (to say nothing of Obama) to win the nomination. Hillary's money and tenaciousness also makes it likely she will stay in Super Tuesday and beyond.
Edwards is making a big gamble by not knocking off the weaker "frontrunner"--Obama--first, but Obama is likely to benefit Tuesday from his Iowa win, so Edwards is holding off until Obama's "bounce" wears off. Edwards must get Clinton out of the way to get the nomination. If he can do it, he will be president of the United States (assuming no GOP fraud in the GE). Knocking off Obama afterwards would be a piece of cake. Edwards will be seen as a giant killer, and this will terrify the socks off of corporate America, which has required the media to put in a blackout of Edwards (just as it did in 2003-2004).
This race could prove interesting.
