Obama supporters as a whole border on being batshit. Perhaps if they actually knew what he stood for, or if they demanded he be vetted, he'd be a more appealing candidate.
But he won't be because he's the strawman the GOP wants to go up against McCain. As Krugman points out, if Obama is the nominee, he will be subjected to the "Clinton rules," that vetting of smear and slander. Of course, in Obama's case, he's tainted already, and the bastards of the GOP and media won't have to make much up.
