When Historians

finally get around to writing about what went wrong in Campaign 2008 and why Democrats frittered away a sure win only to lose to John McCain, they will ask themselves how in the hell Democratic voters could be so dumb as to fall so easily for the media narrative shoved down their throats. What I am talking about is the "Obama movement," which is much like the Howard Dean movement of four years ago. It's a goddamned cult, but instead of it being the result of the nutroots following cynical political pandering by the likes of Joe Trippi, the Obama "movement" is the result of cynical media manipulation. He's been marketed much the way iPods have been marketed; he's the latest fashion, and so naive kids have jumped on the bandwagon and have built this guy up as the next political messiah. All the while these supporters haven't a goddamned clue what the guy stands for. Obama, who may be dumb in a lot of ways, isn't so stupid not to take advantage of the hype. I think he now believes the bullshit written about him despite all of the warning signs he is about to go down in flames. He just ignores all of the obvious problems with his candidacy in hopes he can slide into the White House in the fall. It ain't gonna happen, not against the media's real love, John McCain.

The media refuses to vet him, unlike all of the other candidates. They are waiting in hopes he can beat the establishment Clinton machine, and THEN they will unleash Rezko, etc. on the public. Until then, they won't.

But, yeah, Obama's "movement" of "change" and "hope" is little more than a cult. The funny thing is, having seen him in person twice, I fail to grasp the appeal. He's just another cynical politician like all the rest.
