Little Current, son of the great French racehorse Sea Bird II, won this race as well as the Preakness. Kentucky Derby winner Cannonade was in this race.
Sea Bird lived to be only 12 years old, but Little Current was one of the longest-lived classic winners having made it to 32. He died in 2003:
