Top sire Storm Cat, one of North America's leading sires for years, has been pensioned from stud duty at the age of 25. His fertility has declined, but he is in otherwise good health.
He is a son of Storm Bird, a son of Northern Dancer, and of Terlingua, a daughter of Secretariat, who was euthanized last month at the age of 32.
_____
Somehow I missed Terlingua's death last month. She was from the second crop of Secretariat and was a top racehorse herself. But as the dam of Storm Cat, one of the top sires in the world, she was even more celebrated.
She was euthanized April 29.
