Despite the rabid calls from the punditocracy to drop out, Hillary Clinton absolutely refuses to stand by and let the Democratic Party commit hara-kiri this fall.
Since Terry McAuliffe is a Clinton partisan, he no doubt thinks that if the campaign ends before the convention, he must think it will be resolved in Clinton's favor.
He may have been incompetent as head of the DNC, although nowhere as bad as the current job holder, but I don't think he'd say something like that if he thought Hillary Clinton wouldn't pull the nomination off.
