I forgot to mention the death of plaintiff Mildrid Loving, 68, the "Loving" in the famous 1967 Loving v. Virginia Supreme Court case involving interracial marriage. The USSC struck down all anti-miscegenation laws as a result of her suit.
Her name was certainly appropriate. She was black while her husband, Richard, was white.
Loving died May 2 of pneumonia. Her husband died in 1975.
