The Booming Economy

Donations are down but demand is way, way up in L.A. at the city's food banks:

Steep job losses in the banking and entertainment industries, on top of the housing downturn, are reverberating particularly hard through the San Fernando Valley, leading to less work for janitors, waiters and others. The Valley has lost thousands of jobs in financial services, largely due to the failure last fall of Calabasas-based Countrywide Financial Corp. -- the nation's largest mortgage lender -- which laid off more than 20% of its workforce.

The economy is frightening and I don't trust either candidate to fix it. If gas prices and food prices continue to rise we are going to be in serious trouble as a country.

I agree totally. I am going through some terrible times right now because of a truly horrible employer that has put me on unpaid leave for MONTHS while my sick leave is being arbitrated. I am looking at filing a lawsuit and possibly filing criminal charges against a former supervisor who put forgeries of disciplinary documents in my file. I am getting some public assistance right now.
