Singer and actress Edie Adams, best known for having co-starred with comic Ernie Kovacs on his various television series and later married him, has died of cancer and pneumonia. She was 81 years old.
She had to continue to work after her husband died to pay off the debts. Even more tragic, Mia, the daughter she had with Kovacs, died in a car accident herself. So did a stepdaughter, Kippie.
She did have a son from her second marriage who survives her, and a daughter-in-law.
And of course I have to mention she also starred in the 1966 classic turkey, The Oscar. She portrayed the wife of blackmailer Ernest Borgnine.
In the 1960s, to help pay off the debts, she was a pitchwoman for Muriel Cigars. I well remember these ads:

Edie Adams gave an extensive 10-part interview in 1999 which can be found on the YouTube site, Archive of American Television. Here is the link. Another reason why I highly recommend this site.
