Election Results

Sorry for the size of the graphic; I couldn't log in to the 400-pixel picture that would fit. As readers can see, the Democrats won in almost LBJ-fashion. Cynic that I am, I doubt Obama will perform up to those standards. Four Senate seats have yet to be decided. The House, though, has been decided, and the Democrats greatly increased their margin. The states have all been decided except for NC. McCain did quite well considering he was greatly outspent.

Grand total so far: Obama 349, McCain 173 electoral votes.

States for McCain (22):

AK, ID, MT, WY, UT, AZ, ND, SD, NE, KS, OK, TX, MO (which lost its winning streak of picking the president), AR, LA, KY, TN, MS, AL, GA, SC, WV (also losing its winning streak)

States for Obama (28):

HI, OR, WA, CA, NV (which continues its winning streak of picking every president since 1964), NM, CO, MN, IA, WI, IL, IN, OH, MI, FL, VA, PA, NY, NH, VT, ME, DE, RI, MA, DC, MD, CT, NJ

Governorships:

7 Democratic:

WA, MT, MO, WV, NC, DE, NH

4 Republican:

UT, IN, ND, VT

Senate:

Four states have yet to be decided:

OR: Smith (incumbent) ahead of Merkley, 48 to 44 percent, 75 percent of precincts reporting.

MN: A real nailbiter. Both incumbent Coleman and Franken are at 42 percent each with 100 percent of precincts reporting.

GA: Chambliss (incumbent) 50 percent, and Martin 47 percent, with 99 percent of precincts reporting.
