MINORITIES CARRY THE STATE: Democrat Barack Obama overcame a lead for Republican John McCain among white voters with overwhelming support among minorities. Roughly nine in 10 blacks and three quarters of Hispanics backed the Illinois senator. About four in 10 Obama voters identified themselves as something other than white, while eight in 10 of McCain’s voters were white.
AGE MATTERS: Two-thirds of voters younger than 30 backed Obama, while more than half of voters 65 and older backed McCain.
We will see if Nevada becomes blue for the long haul or if this is a blip. Since Nevada has been trending blue for years, I suspect this election isn't a fluke.
My landlord and I were talking about the election results, and we both came to the conclusion there wasn't much John McCain could do to reverse course in this election. We agreed no Republican could beat any Democrat this year for the White House once the economy went into the shitter. It's very lucky for Obama this happened because he was NOT a strong candidate to begin with.
