Paul Krugman

Although Obama made the typical remarks of a politician who doesn't want to face the truth of the Bush years, Paul Krugman doesn't believe it should be swept under the rug.

Those years shouldn't be if for no other reason than for the historic record. We know the far right has a tendency to create their own facts in order to sway public opinion.

I disagree with Krugman, however, that the biggest scandal during Bush's administration was his lies about Iraq. No, the biggest scandal was HOW he got in the office in the first place and how he got "re-elected," both of which are STILL covered up by the media and scoffed at by pundits. Without the stolen elections of 2000 and 2004, NONE of the rest of the atrocities would have happened. Close behind that was the utterly despicable behavior of the administration before, during, and following Hurricane Katrina. The administration should have been FORCED to resign, but I heard no calls for it being run out of Washington on a rail. The administration's actions or inactions were totally unprecedented in American history. It nearly destroyed a major American city, and it could have been prevented.

The administration's mishandling of the economy would come third. Its ineptitude before, during, and after 9/11 runs a close fourth. Iraq would be fifth on the list.

Iraq, as bad as it was, was not unique in terms of presidential deception.

The Bush administration left so many scandals in its wake it's hard to keep track.
