It is no surprise at all the GOP is opposed to putting caps on their true constituency. What this opposition means is the Republicans are outed for what they are, and that is they support an aristocracy in this country, which is actually anti-American.
What is needed is to go back to a 1950s-style tax system where the rich and corporations have to pay their fair share. Of course they could always write off charitable donations, which would be pumped back into the economy and benefit people who are not as well off. It was done in the past, and the entire country prospered from it. The rich still were rich, but at least they realized they were part of a greater community.
