It doesn't matter if the Obama administration tries to subsidize COBRA for laid off workers, for the vast majority STILL can't afford it.
Unemployment compensation is just enough in my situation to pay for the rent, utilities, and food, with little left over for discretionary spending. This is true probably for everybody else who isn't married.
Some day there will be some kind of national health insurance for all citizens, but I may be dead and gone when it happens. As long as there is not the political will to revamp our health care system, there will be no single-payer health insurance.
