can be laid squarely at the economy as a whole, not in the so-called "decline" of journalistic standards.
As for blogs, forget about them ever taking the place of traditional media. It'll never happen, for blogs rely almost entirely on the traditional media (whether that media is online or not) for stories and commentary. Few if any bloggers have the time or the financial resources to do independent reporting.
If traditional media dies, then so do blogs by and large.
