Is there any doubt at ALL Arne Duncan is a horrible, horrible choice to head the Department of Education?
Education, which is already infested with corrupt administrators and outright sociopaths in positions of power, would be subject to even more abusive tactics, this time by politicians and worsen the plight of not only children but also thousands of teachers already suffering from abusive workplaces.
Read the NAPTA site and weep. The stories fired teachers tell, and believe me, you don't have to cheat on standardized tests or abuse kids to be fired, should make the hair stand on end.
The common thread running through these stories is the fact these teachers are almost ALL older teachers, whether they have thirty years of experience or three. Age discrimination, which I believe is what ultimately forced me out of the Washoe County School District because human resources wanted to cheat me out of my retirement, is rampant in this field. But age discrimination is very difficult to prove, and school districts know it.
