The Chances of Obama

putting through any kind of meaningful health care reform is between slim and none.

It's because the health insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, and others in the health care industry fear decreased profits, and in the case of insurance companies peddling health care, total extinction. They will fight to the death against any kind of meaningful reform, including single-payer, which is what is needed in this country.

The current system doesn't work anymore, pure and simple, at least for those who need it. However, as long as the lobbyists can bribe--excuse me, influence--Congress to keep the status quo, absolutely nothing will be done.

I'd like to know how this supposed "vow to bring down costs" is going to help anyone who doesn't have health insurance get treatment? Even if they cut the "cost" in half, it would still be out of reach of anyone without insurance. Smoke and mirrors.

They will never bring down costs if there is little or no chance of making a profit.

The bottom line is private industry should not be involved in the health insurance business since health care is a necessity, not a luxury.
