the weather is too nice to stay cooped up here, so my sister and I went to Upper Table Rock, which she has never hiked, and afterwards ate out. Later on I had to take Tony to the vet because he had trouble with his ears. He has some medication for me to put in his ears. Hopefully that will stop the shaking of his head.
So since it is so nice outside, and there is not a whole hell of a lot going on in the world, I am not doing much here today.
Thinking about classic ads, I thought I'd post this famous Heinz Great American Soup ad from 1970, which is hard to believe it has been that long ago, featuring Ann Miller doing a Busby Berkeley-type send-up. It's regarded as one of the best television commercials ever made:
Unfortunately, despite the quality of the ad and the expense in producing it, Heinz didn't sell very many of these soups.
Dave Willock, who played her husband in this ad, is best remembered by yours truly as playing one of the astronauts in that immortal 1958 turkey, Queen of Outer Space. He was born in 1909 and died in 1990. Ann Miller, of course, died in 2004.
At some point if I ever return to Reno I will upload this to my iPod.
