Josephine Owaissa Cottle, also known as Gale Storm, star of the 1950s sitcom My Little Margie, died yesterday at the age of 87. She had been in failing health in recent years.
She starred with Charles Farrell, who played her dad, in the series, which ran from 1952-1955.
After the show ended, she starred in another sitcom, The Gale Storm Show.
Storm also was a singer of note, with songs like "Dark Moon" and a ripoff of Smiley Lewis's classic R&B song, "I Hear You Knocking."
Here is a YouTube clip of an episode of My Little Margie. Several episodes are on there:
Some time ago, she gave an interview with the Archive of American Television. Part one can be found here. These oral histories with classic television performers are lengthy and great.
