Of course the Decline in Jobless Claims

means nothing because there isn't much out there in terms of jobs. It is an absolute nightmare.

However, the writer needs to learn how to spell "through." She repeatedly uses the advertising shorthand of "thru." It drives me crazy.

I have not been able to find a job to replace my previous income. It isn’t as if I am not qualified or that I haven’t tried. On any given day I am responding to 50 and sometimes 60 job openings. I am networking, make phone calls and an unbelievable routine of trying hard to get employed again. Unless you have been in the shoes of the unemployed you simply cannot understand how bad it is out there -- how hard it is to get a job and how difficult it is to remain positive and full of confidence day after day with no results.

Unless she is applying all over the country, there is no way she is applying for 50 or 60 openings a day. In most regions of the country, there aren't even that many jobs advertised on any given day in all fields.
