Apathy

has been the hallmark of younger people when it comes to the issue of abortion. After all, an entire generation has not had to worry about illegal abortions, as they believe Roe v. Wade was settled law. It was more of a personal issue with many rather than a political one.

But as we know, such things we take for granted can easily be taken away, even things that were never granted anyway; i.e., federal financing of abortions, whether directly or indirectly. In any case, there has been considerable uproar over the Stupak amendment to health care "reform," but ten cents says anti-abortion language will still remain in any legislation passing Congress.

The Catholic vote has a lot more clout than some scattered feminist groups/coalitions or bloggers, I am afraid.
