showed a huge disparity in "wealth" between black women and other groups, including white women. The median worth of single black women was a mere $5, while single white women had a median worth of around $42,000.
I would expect that worth has to do with "owning" a home rather than having any savings of note.
Note the median "worth" of married or cohabiting white women--it's clearly tied up in real estate. Take away the real estate, and there wouldn't be much "worth" left.
