Of Course If Education is "For-Profit,"

it isn't any good. Too bad students have had to find out the hard way these "colleges" cost way too much money, don't get students jobs when they graduate, and the credits obtained from these "schools" all too often aren't transferable to other institutions.

They're scams designed to rip off the federal government of Pell Grants and student loans.

The for-profit college system does play a critical role in society. It serves older students, workers between jobs and adults upgrading their skills. But now to protect taxpayers against huge losses, the Department of Education wants some new rules, including one that would expel a for-profit school from the student loan system until more of their graduates start to pay. The industry is fighting that rule, calling it a penalty for serving low income students who can't attend state universities.

Uh, no they don't. These "colleges" don't do anything that can't be done better or cheaper at community colleges or regular four-year schools. They don't need to be "regulated"; they simply need to disappear altogether.

Unfortunately, it is the public system of colleges and universities that are being assaulted by privatization attempts.
