That's because neoliberalism is the ideology of the financial elites, and they control both political parties.
Paul Krugman may find it shocking, but I am past being shocked by the level of corruption of both parties which are hellbent on destroying the United States of America.
Nobody should be surprised Obama is "caving." He really isn't "caving" but actually supports whatever shit the GOP dishes out. The GOP, though, turns around and keeps calling this Reagan lover "socialist." They play the cynic card purely for political gain.
All of it would be funny if it weren't so tragic for this country.
