French actress Maria Schneider, 58, who earned international notoriety for her performance in the 1972 film Last Tango in Paris, has died after a long illness.
I remember reading a lot about the controversy over this film when it came out all those years ago. However, it is not something I want to see because I have no desire to watch an aging Marlon Brando engaging in simulated sex scenes. By 1972, Brando was starting to look like hell and it was downhill from there. I can't see the point of it at all.
Schneider spent much of her later years running charitable organizations helping actors who were aging or washed-up.
