our country and corporations have been run by a cadre of psychopaths, but now America's standards are so low, our psychopaths aren't even that smart.
In my own life, I have had only one supervisor, a principal, who really was a sociopath. There was something clearly wrong with him mentally, but he was adept at hiding it to most people. Only people he didn't like did his real tendencies come through.
They really know how to compartmentalize. If they are adept at that, then they might appear "smart."
Our country, unfortunately, is being run into the ground by psychopaths or sociopaths who are in the financial elite.
