and the reason Obama's fixes are doomed to failure are here in this link.
It's the administrators--not the teachers--who are the problem, stupid. They have total power over teachers, while teachers have no power at all.
Their "unions" are largely ineffective and in the pocket of the school districts. Administrators, in addition to their obscene salaries and virtually unlimited power, are more often than not unionized (referring to principals rather than senior administrators in this case), therefore virtually guaranteeing they cannot ever be removed from their jobs. The legal system, beginning with the "tenure" or "due process" hearings all the way to the courts of appeals and beyond and whether administrative or civil, heavily favors school administrators.
Because principals are administrators and thus supervisory staff, they should NEVER be allowed to have unions and should be far more vulnerable to being outright fired than they are currently. Right now, except for the very rare principal who IS fired, they are merely moved around or are promoted when they get into trouble.
ALL teachers or former teachers know this truth about administrators and teachers, but the public remains in the dark about it.
Administrators and their obscene power trips are the problem.
