so many "working-class" people identify with the rich and vilify those who are not, including those in their own income bracket, and vote against their own economic interests?
The GOP had this down pat when the elites in the party realized they could pull a con job on workers by peddling "social issues" and thinly-veiled racism in order to get votes.
It also helped that Reagan ditched the Fairness Doctrine so that nonstop right-wing propaganda could take place without any counterargument allowed.
I am not sure these people can ever right themselves to where they have to understand that economics is EVERYTHING and why the country is so fucked up.
