I always maintained it was an accident, and everything following it was all one botched up mess by Casey and her family.
In the end, it was less that the defense was so great but the fact the prosecution had absolutely no case against her.
Anthony was found guilty of providing false information to law enforcement officers.
A recent 48 Hours episode talked about the Anthony case and pretty much predicted how it would play out:
Orlando Sentinel:
In a news conference after the verdict, defense attorney Cheney Mason lashed out at the media and at the legal pundits that have been following the case for three years.
"I hope that this is a lesson to those of you that have indulged in media assassination the last three years," said Mason. He expressed anger at some of his fellow attorneys commenting on the case and criticizing the defense. He expressed appreciation for the jury.
The jury's verdicts represent a stunning victory for the defense and especially Baez, who came from relative obscurity to perhaps the most recognized criminal defense attorney in the world.
Casey Anthony's case was very similar to the case of Cynthia Sommer, who was accused of poisoning her Marine husband with arsenic, but evidence later came out he wasn't poisoned at all and she was released from prison. Her behavior following her husband's death was similar to Anthony's.
People deal with trauma in different ways.
