Dan Peek, 60, a founding member of the band America, of undisclosed causes.
It is known he suffered from arthritis.
America is best known for the hit "Horse With No Name," a song that has made many all-time worst records lists, but it was still a big hit nonetheless.
Peek left the band in 1977, tired of the touring and so forth. A religious person, he concentrated his musical energies on Contemporary Christian music instead and was active until his death.
