Don't College Students READ the Papers?

For the record, this is what I wrote following an article from the local Mail Tribune about new education graduates trying to find teaching jobs:

Uh, few teaching positions are open ANYWHERE in the United States. Don't these graduates even bother to read newspapers either hard copy or online editions? The ONLY shortage area nationwide is in math. What I want to know is WHY these students are even majoring in education in the first place since there are no jobs. By the way, there have NEVER been teaching jobs in Oregon to any great extent. Substituting pays better in Oregon than in most other states, but I seriously doubt any person can make a living off it because of the giant glut of applicants, not to mention districts' tendencies to bring retirees back to substitute, which is unfair but it goes on. Students, please get a clue. Teaching is NOT a shortage area, and if somehow you get a job you will be treated like trash and have your career ruined by a principal.

By the way, Alaska and Arizona are both terrible places to teach. Teachers have literally no rights at all in Arizona, while in Alaska openings are for the most part way in the middle of nowhere and not in the urban areas of Juneau, Fairbanks, or Anchorage.
