The Golden Raspberry Award

One of the worst managed school districts in the country has won the Eli Broad prize.

Naturally the former superintendent was a Broadie who ended up leaving the district after he screwed it all up.  He went to work for Rupert Murdoch.  Few people at the district mourned his departure.

The three other finalists—Broward County Public Schools and Miami-Dade County Public Schools, both in Florida, and the Ysleta Independent School District in El Paso, Texas—will each receive $150,000 in college scholarships.

Gorman's legacy was to institute some 52 tests beginning with kindergartners, for God's sake.  Not to mention test scores were going into the ditch.
