Bend Over Barry Strikes Again

He can argue that he has to kowtow to religious outfits because of constitutional issues, but really this is all about pandering to the Catholic vote:

Senior administration officials tell The Associated Press that President Obama on Friday will announce that religious employers will not have to cover birth control for their employees after all. He will demand instead that insurance companies will be the ones ultimately responsible for providing free contraception.

I was trying to wrap my brain around this since it didn't seem to make any sense, but Obama is a master of doublespeak.

Not surprisingly, his new policy doesn't please the anti-abortion crowd. Their beliefs are rooted in the age-old Madonna-whore attitude toward women. Give women--and it is almost always women--access to birth control, and they become shameless hussies.

The plan, touted as a concession to freedom of religion and conscience, was immediately denounced by pro-life Rep. Chris Smith. “The so-called new policy is the discredited old policy, dressed up to look like something else,. said Smith. .It remains a serious violation of religious freedom. Only the most naïve or gullible would accept this as a change in policy.”

“The White House Fact Sheet is riddled with doublespeak and contradiction,” Smith continued. “It states, for example, that religious employers ‘will not’ have to pay for abortion pills, sterilization and contraception, but their ‘insurance companies’ will. Who pays for the insurance policy? The religious employer.”

He does have a point, but the real aim of the anti-abortion crowd is to deny contraceptives to EVERYBODY in order to get people to return to the days of teenage and shotgun marriages, the days when men were masters of their homes and women were nothing.
