By the way, charter schools are not true public schools. By and large they aren't run under the supervision of school boards. They are private schools that get public money. "Reformers" simply found a way around the voucher controversy by co-opting an idea that had once been peddled by Al Shanker and others these schools would be laboratories for different teaching philosophies and run by parents and teachers.
