It is pretty obvious Deasy and his cronies want to shift blame for his shortcomings and blame those rotten teachers and even parapros in order to privatize all of the LAUSD schools.
LAUSD, as I noted in my comment follow this article, is the second-largest school district in the United States. Sexual misconduct and outright pedophilia involving students is extremely rare in public schools, and violators are dealt with harshly, and not just by the courts. In fact, much of this behavior involving teachers and high school students over the age of consent (typically 16, but varies from state to state) was actually legal until all of the concern about lawsuits and sexual harassment in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Behavior that was once legal between teachers and students, and is still legal between teens past the age of consent and adults in the general population, was then criminalized to discourage such conduct.
The media, however, takes something that is extremely rare and plays right into Sleazy Deasy's hands. He openly despises teachers, especially those with more than five years' experience as he regards more senior teachers as worthless. So then an event like this latest report, which really isn't even worth making national news, is hyped up. Worse behavior that happened at Sparks, Nevada's Reed High School involving a special education teacher and a special education aide in two separate and recent incidents didn't make national news. I do believe fellow Eli Broadie Heath Morrison would have demonized teachers in general following these events if he'd had thought of it. But the fact is he didn't. He was too busy nominating himself for the national superintendent of the year award.
Speaking of the award, we will find out in two days whether Heath's efforts were successful. If so, we will never hear the end of it.
